Who We Are
Built on the Idea of Shared Ground
We are a small consulting firm in Ipoh with a straightforward view: the owner knows their business best, and the advisor's job is to think alongside them — not in front of them.

How Sinar Came to Be
Sinar started in Ipoh with a simple observation: most small business owners in Malaysia do not need a grand strategy. They need someone willing to sit down with them, understand their specific situation, and think through it honestly.
The name Sinar — meaning light or ray in Malay — reflects what we believe good advisory should do. Not illuminate everything at once, but cast a steady, useful light on what matters most right now.
We work with owners across Perak and beyond who are tired of being told what their numbers should look like by people who have never run a shop, managed a small team, or dealt with the pressures of a family business. Our work starts with listening, and it stays there throughout.
Our Mission
Why We Work the Way We Do
Our mission is to make good business thinking available to owners who would not usually seek out a consultant — perhaps because they have had poor experiences before, or because they do not see their business as large enough to justify the cost.
We offer fixed-price engagements with clear scope so that owners always know exactly what they are paying for and what they will receive. There is no scope creep, no open-ended retainer without a clear purpose, and no work that exists to justify our fees.
Every piece of advice we give is tested against a simple question: would we give this same advice if we had no financial interest in what the owner decides?
Our People
The Team at Sinar
A small team with broad experience. We keep things lean so every client engagement gets our full attention.
Razif Amin
Principal Advisor
Over fifteen years advising small and mid-sized businesses across Perak. Razif built Sinar after concluding that most owners need a thinking partner more than a formal consultant.
Lily Hamzah
Financial & Operations Advisor
Lily brings a background in management accounting and operations review. She has worked with retail, F&B, and service businesses across Malaysia, with a focus on practical cost and cashflow management.
Nabil Ismail
Client Relations & Research
Nabil handles client onboarding, scheduling, and the research groundwork that goes into every Level Review. He makes sure each engagement runs without friction on both sides.
How We Work
Standards We Hold Ourselves To
Full Confidentiality
Everything you share with us is held in strict confidence. We do not discuss client situations with other clients or third parties without explicit permission.
Written Deliverables
Every engagement produces at minimum one written document — a session summary, a report, or an agreed set of next steps — so the work has lasting value beyond the conversation itself.
No Conflict of Interest
We do not accept referral fees, commissions, or financial arrangements that could bias our advice. Our fee comes only from the client we are serving.
Prepared Engagements
We do not show up to a session without preparation. Before any meeting, we review the information you have shared and arrive with considered questions and a clear agenda.
Fixed, Transparent Pricing
Our prices are published and do not change mid-engagement. You know exactly what you are paying before anything begins. No surprises, no add-ons without agreement.
Owner's Pace, Always
We do not push clients to move faster than they are comfortable with. The pace of change in your business belongs to you. Our role is to think alongside you, not to drive you.
Advisory Built for Malaysian Small Business
Small business in Malaysia operates under specific pressures — the relationships that hold a business together, the customs around credit and payment, the dynamics of family-owned operations, the particular challenges of trading in a town like Ipoh where reputation travels quickly and trust takes time to build.
Sinar's advisory is shaped by working within this context, not in spite of it. We take the local business environment seriously as a factor in every recommendation we make.
Expertise Across Operations, Finance and Direction
Our team draws on experience across business operations, management accounting, and strategic planning. We are not specialists in one narrow function — we are generalists who understand how the parts of a small business connect and affect each other.
This breadth matters because small business problems rarely fit neatly into one category. A cashflow issue may trace back to operations. A pricing problem may reflect something in how the owner presents value to customers. We look across the whole picture before drawing conclusions.
